Dreaming in Bloom: Behind the scenes of my spring inspired art series

Each year around April and May, something magical begins to happen here in Estonia.
The air shifts.
The first signs of spring appear- soft and subtle at first.
The light changes, the sun begins to shine warmer and overnight the trees go from bare to blooming. One morning after rain, everything is suddenly alive- fresh, green and full of possibility. The birds return. The skies open up in that soft, hopeful blue. And slowly, color returns to the world.

This is the feeling I wanted to capture in Dreaming in bloom.

It’s a deeply personal series for me- a tribute to those fleeting spring moments that stir something inside. The fragrance of lilacs drifting through the air. The glowing light after an afternoon shower. The peace of a quiet walk with Prince through blooming parks. All of it fills me with wonder, every year.

A VISUAL LOVE LETTER TO NATURE’S RENEWAL

Lilacs played a special role this time- their soft purple hues and dreamy scent brought back sweet memories from my childhood. They’re a symbol of joy and tenderness for me. Just like the balcony I used to fill with trailing petunias each spring- a little ritual that made every corner feel alive and filled with care.

In creating this series, I worked with calming blues to reflect the vast spring skies, often paired with soft greens and purples to bring the feeling of blooming gardens. The blues give the paintings a feeling of freedom, calm and lightness- like looking up and breathing a clear spring’s day. I want each piece to feel like an open window, a moment to pause, a breath of fresh air in your space.

This isn’t just a series about flowers or seasons- it’s about creating a sense of emotional renewal, of grounding yourself in nature’s rhythm, even if just for a moment.

We still have snow in Estonia, and currently, it's -7 degrees, but in my heart, there's Spring.

Peaceful reflection series- a journey of serenity and beauty

Art has always been my way of connecting with the world and capturing the emotions that often go beyond words. My series Peaceful Reflection is a testament to those quiet, serene moments that remind us of the beauty surrounding us daily.

This series began as a personal journey- a way to reflect on the tranquility and wonder I encountered during my travels From the soft whispers of wind in the trees to the calming flow of lakes and the vibrant hues of blooming flowers, every painting is a piece of the serenity I found in nature.

Each work in this series is more than just colors on paper; it’s a doorway to a tranquil space. Through lush greens, soothing purples and warm golden highlights, I aimed to evoke a sense of calm and stillness, inviting you to pause and appreciate life’s quieter moments.

2024 in review: A year of creativity, growth and inspiration

I’ve been reflecting on the incredible year that 2024 has been. It has been a year filled with creativity, inspiration, and growth—both as an artist and as a person. Looking back, I’m grateful for all the experiences and opportunities that came my way, and I’m excited to share some of the highlights with you.

A Year of Artistic Creation

One of the most fulfilling parts of 2024 was the sheer amount of creativity that flowed through me. I had the opportunity to finish numerous paintings that I poured my heart and soul into. Each piece was a reflection of my journey, whether it was inspired by nature, personal experiences, or moments of pure inspiration. It’s always a beautiful feeling to step back and see the body of work that has been created over a year, and this year has been no exception.

Inspiration from Travel

In June, I had the privilege of traveling to some breathtaking places that truly sparked my creativity. I visited beautiful locations that filled my heart with so much joy. One of the most memorable experiences was a boat ride on Lake Como, Italy. The peacefulness and beauty of the landscape were overwhelming, and I knew right away that these moments of tranquility would influence my work in profound ways.

Traveling has always been a major source of inspiration for me. Every new place I visit brings with it a sense of wonder and a fresh perspective, which is exactly what I need to fuel my creativity. The sights, sounds, and emotions tied to these places become part of my paintings, infusing each piece with a sense of the places and experiences that have shaped me.

Exhibitions and New Opportunities

One of the major milestones of this year was having the opportunity to showcase my artwork at the Café Gallery in Tallinn. This solo exhibition marked a significant moment in my artistic journey—it was my first solo show, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. It was an honor to see my work on display in such a beautiful space, and it was incredibly rewarding to connect with those who came to view my paintings.

Later in the year, in November, I had the privilege of showing my work at the newly opened Victoria Olt Gallery. The opening night was unforgettable—there was an incredible program, and I had the chance to meet some truly talented individuals. The experience was a wonderful reminder of how art brings people together, and I’m so grateful for the connections I made that evening.

New Beginnings: A New Series

As the year drew to a close, I began working on a new series of paintings, inspired by my travels. This series reflects the beauty of the places I visited in 2024 and the emotions they evoked in me. I’m excited to see how this new direction evolves in 2025 and how these new pieces will continue to shape my journey as an artist.

Gratitude for Growth and Opportunities

Looking back, 2024 has been a year of growth, learning, and new connections. I am incredibly thankful for all the opportunities I’ve had to showcase my work, as well as the amazing people I’ve met along the way. It’s been a year of hard work, reflection, and above all, joy in the creative process.

I’m excited for what 2025 will bring, but for now, I’m taking a moment to appreciate all that I’ve accomplished and the incredible experiences that made 2024 such a special year.

I’m excited to share my latest painting ´Blossoms of sunshine´ with you all. This piece is especially close to my heart because it captures a beautiful moment in time, much like the golden hour of a perfect day. The gold leaf elements in the painting represent sunshine, bringing warmth and light that I hope you can feel when you look at it.

When creating ´Blossoms of sunshine´, I found myself drawn to more neutral shades of green than I usually use. I wanted to experiment and see how these softer tones would play with the vibrant colors of the flowers and the golden leaf. I loved the outcome. The greens provide a calm, peaceful backdrop that allows the bright blooms and the gold leaf to really stand out.

The Inspiration

So, let me start by saying that I’ve always been inspired by the sunshine. There's something magical about how the sun's rays can instantly lift your mood and make everything look more beautiful. I wanted to capture that feeling of warmth and joy in this painting.

The Process

Creating "Emerging Light" was a journey. I used vibrant colors inspired by flowers and nature, blending them together to create a sense of light and movement. As I painted, I thought about how sunlight filters through leaves and petals, creating a beautiful dance of light and shadow.

There were moments when I wasn’t sure how the painting would turn out. Like many of my projects, it had its ups and downs. But then, there was this breakthrough moment – it felt like the colors and shapes finally came together, and the painting started to shine with the light I had envisioned.

The Meaning

"Emerging Light" is all about new beginnings and positive energy. It's about finding that light within us and letting it shine, even when things get tough. I wanted this painting to have a lighter, more uplifting feel – something that brings a bit of sunshine into your home, no matter the weather outside.

Every time I look at "Emerging Light," I’m reminded of the simple joys in life – like a sunny day, a blooming flower, or a quiet moment in nature. I hope this painting brings the same sense of peace and happiness to you.

‘Blossoming into full radiance’: A journey of growth and renewal

Art has always been a profound way to express the journeys we undertake in life- the challenges, the triumphs, and the quiet moments of self-discovery. My latest painting ´Blossoming into full radiance’ is a vibrant reflection of such a journey, inspired by both the beauty of nature and my own personal experience of growth.

THE INSPIRATION
The inspiration for this piece came from a bouquet of flowers I received at the opening event of my recent exhibition. As I arranged the blooms in my studio, I was struck by their delicate beauty and the symbolism they held. These flowers, gifted in celebration of a milestone, represented more than just a kind gesture- they embodied the culmination of my journey as an artist and the personal growth that led me to that moment.

The flowers in various stages of bloom, served as a metaphor for our own lives. Some were in full, vibrant bloom, while others were just beginning to open, each petal unfuling with the promise of something more. This visual reminded me of the journey we all undertake- nurturing our potential, overcoming obstacles and eventually blossoming into our fullest, most radiant selves.

´Blossoming Into Full Radiance´ celebrates this process of growth and renewal. The vibrant greens in the painting symbolize new beginnings and the continuous cycle of life, both in nature and within ourselves. Whites and purples evoke wisdom and the peace that comes from embracing our true selves, while the soft pinks add warmth and compassion, mirroring the love and support we receive and give throughout our journey.

The golden leaf represent moments of light and hope, those precious instances that illuminate our path forward. They remind us that within each of us lies a spark of brilliance, ready to be discovered and shared with the world.
