Viru bog

Viru bog

Few weeks ago I visited a beautiful bog in Estonia- Viru bog. It has nature trail that passes through forest. It has an observation tower which has a beautiful view.

It was so much fun to explore and learn more about all the vegetation that grows in the bog.

When I visited the bog, it was quite cloudy but it made the photos even more beautiful and special.

Let me know in the comments if I should paint a series inspired by all the beautiful colors of Viru bog.

After I finished my Rose series, I knew that I want to do another floral inspired series. I asked my followers suggestions and Lilies were the most suggested flower.

I loved the idea.

I did some research and found many photos of beautiful Lilies in various colors.

Why I paint flowers

Why I paint flowers

My love for flowers started from an early age.

My great grandmother had a well tended garden with all kinds of different beautiful flowers.

Back then I was young and found it weird that someone could spend so much time working in the garden.

Looking back I realise that it was her passion and I still remember the flowers she had in her garden.

My second great grandmother grew roses in her garden and she sold them. It was her job. She loved flowers so much.

Seeing these women grow these pretty flowers definitely influenced me and now I have beautiful flowers in my garden.( see the photos above)

Working in the garden and taking care of the flowers fulfills me in a very deep level. It’s a meditation.

I love to observe the flowers each day and admire their beauty.

With each painting I try to show you what I see and experience when I look at these beautiful flowers in my garden. I express this all in abstract way, using texture, layers of colors and gold leaf.

I hope through my art the beauty and emotion of the flowers live on and they bring joy into someone’s home.

Peony paintings

Peony paintings

Each year I look forward the time the peonies start to bloom.

I love Peonie’s voluminous petals and subtle scent.

I have dark pink and white peonies in my garden.
This year I thought that it would be great idea to paint them.

My color palette had been the same for quite some time and I felt like I needed a change.

They were so much fun to paint. The dark pinks were so beautiful and feminine.

Both of these paintings are available in my shop.

Colors of Summer

Colors of summer

It’s the last day of June and I thought I’d share some of the photos that I took in my garden.
I love the month of June because so many flowers and bushes begin to bloom in the garden.

Each year I take time to notice and enjoy the beauty around me.
All of the paintings that I worked on this month were inspired by flowers and trees in my garden.

I’m so grateful that there is so much beauty around me.

Each morning when I wake up and go to the balcony, I’m greeted with the bird singing and beautiful views.

How to understand abstract art

I still remember the first time I saw abstract paintings in the museum. I believe I was 10-13 years old.
Art teacher had given us an assignment to visit art museum, view the paintings and write about them.

It was so much easier to write about the traditional art.

When it came to writing about abstract paintings, it was different. It’s like it was a different language. A language that I didn’t understand at the time.

I felt quite confused. I had so many questions. Why did they use all these colors? What were they trying to say? How am I supposed to figure out what it all means? After all it seemed to be something that breaks all the rules that people are taught about good art.

Years passed by.

I discovered many different art styles and ended up with abstract.

Throughout the years , I’ve started to understand it.

It’s like a bird song, You don’t understand it but it is beautiful. It makes you feel something.

The thing is, abstract art requires you to have an open mind.

Abstract art breaks all the rules. There is a lot of freedom that comes with it. One of the reasons why I love it so much is that I don’t have to worry about it being realistic and matching the reference photo.

One of the beautiful thing about abstract art is that we can bring our own meaning to it based on our experiences and memories.

Abstract art is an expression of something ( experience, place or emotion) through the perspective of an artist.

As an result it will evoke a feeling or thoughts in the viewer.

Abstract art lets the viewer decide what it’s about.

How my art has evolved over time

Today I realised that it’s been exactly 3 years since I started painting abstract.

It’s crazy how time flies. It feels like it was yesterday..

If you’ve been following me for a while you know that before abstract I drew portraits of people, I painted landscapes and animals. I also painted seascapes and sunset.

At some point I felt drawn towards abstract. I loved everything about it and my hands were itching to start my own abstract paintings.

I went to the art store and got everything I needed to get started.

How my art has evolved over time

I decided that I will start with bright colors. I wanted to create colorful paintings that would bring people happiness. Below you can see a photo of the palette that I used back then.

How my art has evolved over time
How my art has evolved over time

One thing that my current paintings and the paintings I did in 2018 had common, was gold.
I loved adding gold paint to my paintings and I still do. Now I’ve started adding golden leaf to my paintings as well because I love how it adds texture and shine.

How my art has evolved over time

Since art is a reflection of me and my inner world, it has evolved in time and I have started to love more earthy colors.

I love to use nature inspired colors in my work. You probably have noticed that most of the time I use greens, blues and purples in my work. Also a lot of pinks.’

There is so much beauty in nature and I love to express it in my work.’

I look forward to seeing where art takes me and how my style evolves.
Can’t wait to share the whole journey with you

Travel vlog- lake Valgejärv hiking trail

IMG_5112.jpeg

Earlier this month I visited a lake Valgejärv hiking trail with my friends. It’s located in the western part of Saue municipality in Estonia.

I’m so happy that I got to visit this magical place. I’ts been a hot minute since I got to explore new places due to the lockdown. Fortunately the situation has been getting better in Estonia and one of my goals for this summer is to visit as many new places as possible.

There’s something about visiting new places that brings out the explorer in me.

I felt so inspired after spending time in this magical place.

IMG_5128.jpeg

There were many information boards which pointed out different types of forests in the area and birds that live there.

The view from that tower was so beautiful. I ‘m actually afraid of heights but I always try to overcome it so that I wouldn’t miss the beautiful views.

I’m already looking forward to visiting more places and seeing how it influences my paintings.

Stay tuned.
